About the chant: This Psalm sang this way should make us remember the Ottoman massacre of Armenians. In 1915 a million people were brought through what is now Turkey and walked to their deaths near Deir-al-Zour in modern Syria. One hundred years on, only a handful of survivors remain to tell the stories of the Armenian genocide. Komitas (Pictured in the video) a genius artist who suffered immensely after witnessing the genocide and died in a mental institution in France, a loss not only to Armenians but music lovers all over the world
