Teen Carlo Acutis to Become the First Millennial Saint
This Sunday marks a historic moment for the Catholic Church: Pope Francis will canonize Carlo Acutis, declaring him Saint Acutis in his first canonization as pontiff.
Carlo Acutis, a teenager from Italy who had a love for video games and a deep devotion to the Eucharist, passed away in 2006 after battling leukemia at the age of 15. Since his death, he has been credited with two miraculous healings — one involving a young boy with a rare disease and another of a woman who survived severe head trauma.
Ahead of the canonization, NBC News’ Keir Simmons spoke with Carlo’s mother in Italy, who shared the story of her son’s faith-filled life and the impact he continues to have on young people around the world.
Carlo’s canonization will make him the first millennial saint, offering today’s generation a relatable example of holiness rooted in modern life and technology.
